Sometimes when I think about grace I picture a soap dispenser. Like one of the ones you see in public restrooms or work places that hang on the wall and you press a button or put your hand underneath in order for it to dispense the soap.
Each morning your “grace dispenser” is full and as you go throughout your day, grace is dispensed as needed. Some days it feels like we’ve used a moderate amount of grace and some days it feels like we’ve used so much grace that we don’t believe there’s enough in the dispenser to cover what we need and surely there’s not going to be a refill anytime soon.
We can’t quantify grace. There is enough grace in your dispenser every single day, no matter what. And it gets filled to the brim every single morning, no matter what.
Also, you don’t have to press a button or put your hand under the dispenser every time in order to receive grace. God’s good at giving out grace, especially when we don’t ask for it or want to take it.
live with abandon.
